The Change Reaction -
A Powerful New Partnership

Village for Vets is a proud and grateful to announce a new partnership with an innovative new organization, The Change Reaction. The Change Reaction is building a movement around a new way of thinking about philanthropy, one that provides reliable funding for community partners, like Village for Vets, specifically for direct emergency grants to meet the urgent needs of individuals. Our partnership with The Change Reaction has already been a game-changer for our Emergency Assistance program and beyond.

Thanksgiving Meals

On November 24, Village for Vets ensured that low income veterans and their families have a holiday meal! The UCLA Veteran Family Services Center provided the turkeys, and with help from West Side Food Bank and generous support from The Change Reaction, Village for Vets provided the sides and deserts to round out a hearty meal. Thanks to this effort by Village for Vets, UCLA and the VA, 165 families were able to come pick up their Thanksgiving package
at the VA.

Blanket Delivery

Nighttime temperatures are getting down into the low 40s at the CTRS campsite, and residents didn’t have the cold-weather gear they needed. Village for Vets distributed 118 blankets and 30 warm knit caps, and gloves, to help keep the veterans sheltering at CTRS warm and safe. This was made possible by the generosity of a wonderful supporter, Elisabeth Sikors, who set up a donation drive and raised over $2000 with her group of friends. These generous individuals have made it possible for us to provide this warmth for every homeless veteran living at the CTRS. Thank you Elisabeth and friends!
