Basic Needs Programs

Furniture and housewares are among the top unmet needs of formerly homeless and low-income Veterans. We believe that by meeting this need, we are contributing to helping Vets remain securely housed. That’s why we accept new or gently used furniture and housewares such as couches, loveseats, tables & chairs, coffee & end tables, lamps, dishes, and other household goods. We pick them up, store them, and match the item with a Veteran in need.

Veterans moving from their cars or tents into transitional or permanent housing lack the basic items needed to establish a home - things like sheets and towels, cleaning products, and bathroom and kitchen supplies. Village for Vets is providing over 200 comprehensive move-in kits for veterans moving into supportive housing facilities in 2023.

Village for Vets raises funds to purchase coats that double as sleeping bags for VA outreach teams to distribute to homeless veterans throughout Los Angeles. The coat distribution both saves lives and helps the VA get homeless veterans enrolled in a broad range of services.

Hunger is a critical and growing challenge for homeless and at-risk veterans in Los Angeles, and the VA cannot fund or provide meals for homeless veterans not living in “structured housing.” Village for Vets fills this gap with more than 1000 meals every week, totaling 56,420 each year, to veterans in need.

We partner with corporations to provide new, high quality clothing and hygiene items to Veterans in need. Companies like True Classic Tees, The 99 Cent Store, Duke Cannon, Bombas, and many more have made it part of their mission to serve Veterans.
