[Newsletter] Program Needs

As the COVID crisis enters its fifth month, the team at Village for Vets is working harder than ever to meet the increased needs to homeless and at-risk veterans across greater Los Angeles.

Our meals programs make sure our veterans don’t go hungry on the VA campus and beyond - in partnership with our fantastic partners The Brentwood School, the Westside Foodbank, Food Forward and Fresh Lunches.

Now we need to make sure our Emergency Financial Assistance program has the resources it needs to respond to the influx of new referrals and applications for help. In the past month, requests for emergency help for housing-related expenses has grown exponentially, a trend we expect to continue as at-risk veterans continue to struggle to find work. Applications for help of all kinds have increased since the beginning of the crisis and we need to ask for your help in meeting that need.  This program helps to prevent ‘recitivism’ or a return to homelessness after the hard work of earning independence has been done.

I can’t thank you enough for being part of our village.  We have come together to serve those who served us and to fill critical gaps for homeless and at-risk veterans in our communities. Together, we are making real difference.

Safest best,

Marcie
