Tanya Bradsher Helps Build a Village for Vets at the West LA VA

In Februrary, 2022, Chief of Staff for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tanya Bradsher paid a visit to the CTRS site where the Tiny Shelter Community is being built. “We are so grateful to Ms. Bradsher and the Department of Veterans Affairs for their commitment to ending Veteran homelessness in Los Angeles.” Said Village for Vets Executive Director, Mary McGuire.

In 2021 Village for Vets was granted a Revocable License by the VA to purchase and install 72 tiny shelters on the West LA campus in what will be the largest Pallet Shelter community for homeless Veterans in the country. These shelters, funded by GHC Housing Partners, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and a host of generous private donors, provide safe and secure temporary shelter as well as wraparound services while veterans are transitioning into permanent housing. Additional shelters provided by Brentwood School and Lennar Homes/ Home Aid will bring the total to 127 on the VA Campus. These Tiny Shelters are a first step on the path from homelessness to housed for Los Angeles’ homeless Veterans.

Ms. Bradsher is a combat Veteran who served for 20 years in the United States Army. She enlisted in 1993 and was commissioned in 1994 from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
